Cell Phone Users Beware of the Solar Traffic Signs; Designed with You in Mind

Solar powered stop signs are designed to help drivers stop at designated intersections when they are distracted by various preoccupations within the car and within their mind that sometimes has drivers missing stop signs completely and causing deadly car crashes.

There are people who drink and drive, eat and drive and text on their cell phones and drive – all things that could cause a driver to become distracted from the task at hand which is watching the road and looking out for possible dangers which could have deadly consequences. Many people, including most of the news media reports, blame a lot of the text and driving on younger people but there are adults who insist on texting and driving in order to get things done in a ‘multitasking-get-it-done-yesterday’ kind of world. Solar stop signs might help to alert these distracted drivers when they are engrossed in a cell phone conversation, either texting or talking.

There is a growing problem of texting while driving and many states have banned talking on cell phones while driving. California banned the use of cell phones in vehicles last year and just a day later, the first lady of the state, Maria Shriver was photographed using her cell phone in her SUV.  The photograph became big news because her famous husband, governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had just signed the bill into law. She was photographed three days later in the same vehicle using the same cell phone while driving. Shriver later apologized to California and American citizens, promising never to use her cell phone in the car again. Missouri is another state that banned cell phone texting but only for those under 21.

Solar traffic signs are popping up all over towns and cities across the country in order to help drivers navigate their way to a safe trip with LED lights alerting them to dangers and other road conditions up ahead. Using solar power, the solar powered traffic signs will increase public safety while decreasing a community’s highway budget and making their roadways much saver for all.
